                     AYSAD is an association where the leading elevator companies and component manufacturers of Turkey have
                    come together.

                    The Association has been founded 34 years ago in 1972 and has made great contributions to development of
                    the elevator industry in Turkey thanks to its continuous activities.

                    AYSAD is a member of ELA (European Lift Association) and it represents the Turkish elevator industry in
                    national and international platforms.

                Mile stones

                    01.08.1972 10 major companies involved in manufacturing and installation of elevators and escalators decided to found an association on this date.  

                    1975 Introductory letters about the activities of the Association were sent to the Istanbul Technical University, and to the Chambers of Mechanical Engineers and Electrical Engineers in Istanbul, Ankara, Adana, Bursa and Eskişehir.

                    1982 Activities were started together with the Ministry of Public Works and Settlement in order to improve and develop the increasing number of companies not having the qualifications required for the manufacturing of elevators.

                    1987 The headquarters of the company was moved to its new building in Hasanpaşa, Kadıköy.

                    1988 Through frequent meetings held in its headquarters, AYSAD successfully resolved many problems encountered by its members.

                    1990 A proposal was submitted to TSE (Turkish Standards Institute) in order to change the problematic articles of TS 863 Standard; and consequently 4 of the 9 such articles were changed.

                    1992 AYSAD was involved into a protocol signed between TSE and Istanbul Municipality by which the problems of the industry were voiced.  First major steps were taken in university-industry cooperation through meetings held in Yıldız Technical University, Mechanical Engineering Faculty and Kocaeli Engineering Faculty

                    1993 Turkey was the stage of its first international elevator fair, thanks to the significant contribution of our Association. EN 81 standard was introduced under the name of TS 10922 on optional basis with the pioneering and contributions of our Association. The introduction of this standard marks a major step in the Turkish Elevator Industry’s harmonization process with EU.

                    1994 EN 81-2 (Hydraulic Elevators) prepared a draft standard for TSE.

                    1995 A computer network has been established in the headquarters of the Association, and all correspondence, procedures and records have been transfered to the computer media.

                    1996 In order to reach further harmonization with EU following the Customs Union between Turkey and European Union; the subjects under EC Directive 95/16/EC and EU practices have been highlighted in many platforms at national level.

                    2000 AYSAD’s internet site was put into service at the address of www.aysad.org.tr.

                    2001 AYSAD organized a seminar with the subject of “CE Marking” in a Congress Center.

                    2002 Our Association applied for membership to the Union of European Lift Associations (ELA)

                    2003 AYSAD was included to the umbrella of ELA as an observer member. AYSAD sent two associate members to ASTEK (Elevators Technical Committee) established under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

                    2004 14th ELEVCON Congress was held in Istanbul under the sponsorship of one of our members. In IFEX Meeting organized by AYSAD, Turkish Elevator Industry was advertised to the world.

                    2005 A Quality Management System was established as a guideline to the activities of our Association, and the conformance of our Association’s system to ISO 9001-2000 standard was certified by Liftinstitut. Istanbul Elevator Exhibition was realized once more with the support of our Association.

                     Elevator Design Competition was held in Turkey for the first time. Although it was the first, it attracted great interest.

95/16 EC Lift Directive Training for our members and for other representatives of the sector was organized and held in Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, on 9, 10 and 11 December 2005, and all participants were given a certificate, by making use of the EU funds. This seminar was given by the Austrian experts.

2006:

Two meetings were organized and held with participation of lift companies, whether members of AYSAD or not, and of local associations active in various different cities, for an exchange of views about the Lift Operations and Maintenance Regulation. 1st meeting was held in the premises of ASRAY, a member of our Association, on 26th of April, 2006, and 2nd meeting was held in Bursa in the Social Premises of HKS Has Lift, a member of our Association, on 7th of July, 2006.

AYSAD participated in WEII 2006 Lift Fair organized and held in Orlando in the United States of America between 12 and 14 September 2006, and represented our country, Association and members.

A meeting open to all notified bodies was held on 12th of October, 2006, in order to discuss the complaints about notified bodies organized and active in Turkey.

Our Association organized and held an “AYSAD YEAR-END CONFERENCE” in Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, on 14th of December, 2006. The executives of fire departments from various different cities were invited to this meeting, and rescue works and activities were discussed.

2007:

In February 2007, AYSAD was enrolled as a member in the Federation of Industrial Associations, named SEDEFED, established by the leading important industrial societies and associations of Turkey.

A seminar named “Shafts and Lift Guide Rails” was organized and held in AYSAD head offices on 6th of March, 2007, pursuant to and under a protocol signed by and between AYSAD on one hand and KİPTAŞ, one of the leading construction companies in Turkey, on the other hand.

On Thursday, 28th of June, 2007, our Association organized a Panel named “The Process of Participation of People’s Republic of China To The World Trade Organization – Chinese Commodities – Dumping and Unfair Competition Regulations” in TÜSİAD Headquarters Meeting Hall with the support of SEDEFED. The Panel was attended by representatives from different industries and segments.

The “Guide To Application of The Lifts Directive 95/16/EC” document issued by the European Commission was translated into Turkish, and published as a book together with its original in English. 1500 printed copies of this book were circulated to the concerned persons and entities.

AYSAD participated in Interlift 07 fair organized in Augsburg, Germany.

Our Association AYSAD contributed and participated as a sponsor in the “Disabled 07 Congress” held in İstanbul Military Museum between 6 and 9 December 2007. Mr. Luc Rivet, ELA Secretary General, and Mr. Ercüment Hızal, and Prof. Ahmet Fahri Özok, Lecturer in Istanbul Technical University, presented papers in AYSAD Panel on “Access For All” organized on 9th of December as a part of this Congress.

2008:

In the 2008 Annual Ordinary Meeting of General Assembly of ELA, AYSAD was accepted as a Full Member to ELA (European Lift Association).

AYSAD participated in the Lift Symposium organized in İzmir between 23 and 25 May 2008.

AYSAD participated in Elevcon 2008 THESSALONIKI (The 17th International Congress on Vertical Transportation Technologies) Congress organized in Thessaloniki, Greece between 11 and 13 June 2008.

Dr. Veysel Yayan, Secretary General of DÇÜD (Association of Iron & Steel Manufacturers) made a presentation on iron & steel sector to our members in a conversation meeting held in our Association’s premises on 19th of June, 2008.

In a meeting held in Malatya in the eastern region of Turkey on 2nd and 3rd of August, 2008, information was given to the firms active in the region.
