The Elevcon 2025 program included presentations, panel discussions, and networking opportunities. This year’s event comprised 12 sessions addressing topics such as energy efficiency, elevator planning, and architecture, sustainability, quality, and safety in high-rise buildings.
The opening welcome address was delivered by Dr. Marja-Liisa Siikonen, IAEE President, Elevcon Congress Chair, and Program Manager.
Information on the Congress Organization was provided by Gil Stier, IAEE Executive Board Chair.

The paper titled “The Wooden Open-Air Elevator on Büyükada Is Called the Atatürk Elevator” was prepared by Mr. Sefa Targıt and Mr. C. Erdem İmrak. Prof. Dr. Erdem İmrak presented the paper.

The abstract of the report is as follows: Büyükada, the largest of the nine islands that make up the Princess Islands in the Sea of Marmara, boasts an elevator built in 1936 for Atatürk’s visit to the Anatolian Club (founded in 1926).
The open-air elevator, which provides access from sea level to the hotel entrance, defies time with its wooden structure within a metal shaft.
The elevator, known as the Atatürk Elevator, stands out with its steel structure and wooden components. This study provides a detailed introduction to the Atatürk Elevator, one of Istanbul’s historic elevators.
In the 6th session, “ELEVATOR COMPONENTS: ROPE ANALYSIS,” Prof. Erdem İmrak chaired the session.
Takashi Matsushima presented “Probabilistic Assessment of the Seismic Response of Lift Ropes.”

The 7th session, “ELEVATOR COMPONENTS: DEFECTION PULLEYS AND ROPES,” was moderated by Mr. Sefa Targıt, a former AYSAD president and Vice President of MAKFED.

Lothar Sieber gave the presentation on “Reliance on Optamid® Deflection Pulleys.”
