AYSAD held a training seminar titled “Elevators Subject to Seismic Conditions” on Thursday, March 21st, at the Ali Metin Duruk Conference Hall of the Makina Hangar Science and Technology Center.
The meeting was attended by AYSAD members, as well as representatives of inspection bodies and the MMO.
The meeting was opened by AYSAD Communications Consultant Turhan Korkmaz, and the opening speech addressing the seminar’s objectives was delivered by AYSAD Chairman Oğuzhan Bulgurluoğlu.

The first session of the seminar was presented by Physicist Ufuk Kırbuğa from Buga Otis Asansör. In his presentation, Kırbuğa provided information on building earthquake regulations, the definition of earthquakes, Türkiye’s earthquake map, the importance classes of buildings, and the purpose of TS EN 81-77, addressing elevators subject to seismic conditions.

Following the break, Prof. Dr. Erdem İmrak from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University (ITU) discussed the significant earthquakes that have occurred in recent years and the statistical data regarding their impacts, taking into account that Türkiye is located in an earthquake zone.

İmrak shared information about the reports prepared by AYSAD on the behavior of elevators after the earthquakes in Van and Kahramanmaraş.

In the question and answer section Mr. Ahmet Erdil, a mechanical engineer, Mr. Ufuk Kırbuğa, and Prof. Dr. Erdem İmrak, who attended on behalf of Schindler Türkeli Elevator, answered questions.
Our Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Oğuzhan Bulgurluoğlu, was presented with a plaque by MMO Istanbul Branch President Ms. Ezgi Kılıç in recognition of AYSAD’s support for the Makina Hangar.
